Description
In 1993, Frederick Wiseman turned his gaze to the Miami MetroZoo (since renamed Zoo Miami). The zoo’s collection includes 780 animals representing hundreds of species. The film shows the care and maintenance of the animals by the keepers, the work of the veterinarians and their staff and the visits to the zoo by people from all over the world. The film presents the wide diversity of interests and activities at the zoo and the inter-relatedness of the animal, human, financial, technical, organizational and research aspects of operating the zoo.
IFFBoston is honored to be participating in the regional celebration of legendary local documentarian Frederick Wiseman. The series began in March, taking place at the Brattle Theatre and Coolidge Corner Theatre, as well as The MFA and Boston Public Library. The series continues in May at the Somerville Theatre and MassArt.
